Headway – the brain injury association (Headway UK)

A registered charity covering the UK that aims to promote understanding of all aspects of brain injury and to provide information, support and services to people who have suffered a brain injury, their family and carers.

A network of local Groups (affiliated to Headway UK) and Branches throughout the UK and Channel Islands offers a wide range of services, including rehabilitation programmes, carer support, social re-integration, community outreach and respite care. Headway UK provides support to these Groups and Branches and guidance on policies, procedures, standards and training.

The United Kingdom Acquired Brain Injury Forum (UKABIF)

A membership organisation and charity which aims to promote the understanding of all aspects of acquired brain injury. It was established in 1998 by a coalition of organisations working in this field who wished to improve awareness of ABI through education and information.

There are regional acquired brain injury forums, such as ABIL, throughout the UK (these are listed on the UKABIF website http://www.ukabif.org.uk/regional-groups ). UKABIF works with these groups to set common aims, encourage sharing of information and practice and co-ordinate group work.
