Headway – the brain injury association (Headway UK)

A registered charity covering the UK that aims to promote understanding of all aspects of brain injury and to provide information, support and services to people who have suffered a brain injury, their family and carers.  www.headway.org.uk/

A network of local Groups (affiliated to Headway UK) and Branches throughout the UK and Channel Islands offers a wide range of services, including rehabilitation programmes, carer support, social re-integration, community outreach and respite care. The United Kingdom Acquired Brain Injury Forum (UKABIF)

A membership organisation and charity which aims to promote the understanding of all aspects of acquired brain injury. It was established in 1998 by a coalition of organisations working in this field who wished to improve awareness of ABI through education and information.

Regional Acquired Brain Injury Forums

There are regional acquired brain injury forums, such as ABIL, throughout the UK, all of which are affiliated to UKABIF –  information about them, together with scheduled meetings and events, are given on its website http://www.ukabif.org.uk/regional-groups ). UKABIF works with these groups to set common aims, encourage sharing of information and practice and co-ordinate group work.

Scottish Head Injury Forum (SHIF)

An umbrella organisation within Scotland that represents the interests of survivors of brain injuries, their families and those who work with them.
